The Nitecore Carbo 10000 Gen 2 is the reworked version of Nitecore’s ultralight power bank line. It combines a carbon fiber housing with built-in magnesium heat sinks, relying on materials that provide both rigidity and good heat dissipation. The goal of the design is to deliver a power bank that’s as compact and light as possible while still being powerful and rugged enough for daily use.
I put that to the test and want to walk you through the pros and cons below.

What works well
At 170 g, the Carbo 10000 Gen 2 is noticeably lighter than a lot of comparable power banks. It measures 12.6 × 4.8 × 1.5 cm, making it smaller than a current smartphone (an iPhone 17, for example, measures 14.9 × 7.1 × 0.8 cm). That compact footprint means it fits easily in a jacket or pants pocket and works well as an everyday carry item.
The built-in magnesium heat sinks provide efficient heat dissipation. Even under extended use at high output, the housing only gets slightly warm, a sign that the thermal management actually works.
The carbon housing gives the power bank real rigidity. According to the manufacturer, it’s drop resistant from 1.5 m and IPX8 water resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use or rough weather too.
The Carbo 10000 Gen 2 is IPX8 rated, waterproof to a depth of 2 m. A small puddle is absolutely no problem
The pass-through function is handy too, letting you charge the power bank and a connected device at the same time. That means it can sit plugged into an outlet and still act as a power source.
With an effective output of around 7,000 mAh, it delivers slightly more usable energy in practice than many other power banks with the same nominal capacity. Thanks to the reworked thermal management and the heat sinks, it can also sustain a constant 30 W output for an extended stretch, around 40 minutes, without throttling.
What could be better
The compact size naturally comes at a cost. At 10,000 mAh, capacity isn’t huge, realistically about 1.5 to 2 smartphone charges, depending on the specific phone and efficiency.
The Carbo 10000 Gen 2 also only has two USB-C ports. For most users who have already fully switched to USB-C, that’s not an issue, but anyone still using older devices or cables might miss a USB-A port.
The port count is modest with just two USB-C ports, and the maximum output of 30 W might feel a bit tight for charging a laptop.
That said, in my view these limitations are simply the trade-off for the compact build, a fair compromise.

Conclusion
The Nitecore Carbo 10000 Gen 2 is a well thought out, modern, and extremely rugged power bank for anyone who values compactness, lightness, ruggedness, and reliability over maximum capacity.
Anyone looking for a large power bank with lots of ports won’t be happy here.
But anyone looking for a small, indestructible, and capable power bank for daily use or outdoor activities, whether for 1 to 2 phone or flashlight charges, will be very happy with this one.
I basically don’t go anywhere without it anymore.
